Friday Fun

This morning our KPAS group joined the all school assembly that our second grade class and Heidi Ringer's 5/6 grade class lead.  We heard stories, poems and sang a few songs.  Upon returning to our room we had some visitors from Lyndley's P3 class.

Ashlyn is making a card for her mommy and West is making heart pumpkins.
Thayer is working hard to flatten her playdough
River was very excited to show me how she rolls the playdough and then created a ball.

The puzzle table was a happy challenge for many! Nora was very determined to piece together her pig puzzle.
Lenora found her favorite place in the classroom and was sure to brush and braid the horse tails!

The afternoon KPAS was sad to learn that Jake was staying home sick today.   We had a few switches to our afternoon and welcomed Gina's help at lunchtime and Andra's help at res time!

We had some great playground weather after lunch
Dahlia and Sedsal enjoy a quiet conversation
Fiona, Maddie and Mazie played train for quite some time!
Bodhi made herself dizzy!
Grady, Luca and Skyler (or is it Batman) brought some cars out to race
Zoe and Taber created a new resting spot
Sedsal was looking for fire
Narumi stopped for a smile
And Xander kept a watchful eye on us all

After some quiet rest the downstairs group enjoyed some peaceful nap mat activities

KPAS Basics

This year we have 2 sessions of KPAS.  Our first session provides care for our afternoon preschool class and any other preschool aged child needing care from 7:30-11:30.  Our morning schedule is
7:30-8:15 morning arrival and free choice
8:15-8:30 first meeting
8:30-9:15 choice time/exploration
9:15-9:30 second meeting/classroom clean-up
9:30-10:00 morning snack and stories
10-10:30 morning rest
10:30-11-30 outside exploration/playground

**children should bring a healthy snack and water bottle each day ( both morning and afternoon KPAS)
***children should bring a nap sheet and blanket (or 2 blankets and no sheet) that can stay at school and brought home on a regular basis for cleaning.  Please store items in a reusable grocery bag.  All morning nap items are stored in my closet on the upper shelf directly behind the door (the lower shelf is for afternoon KPAS)
****we go outside often, please be sure your child has the appropriate gear for the current weather conditions.

Afternoon KPAS schedule 11:00-2:30

Our afternoon numbers have expanded and therefor we utilize my classroom in the basement (Lyndley's old room) and Lyndley's current classroom...this separation happens at 12:30 when afternoon rest begins.

11:00-11:30 outside exploration/playground
11:30-12:00 lunch ( hot lunch in cafeteria and cold lunch in Lyndley's room)
12:00-12:30 outside/classroom exploration
12:30 -2:15 rest time ( for those that sleep)
12:30-1:00 rest time (for those that rest)

***the non sleepers have a quiet rest time on their own cots and still need all resting items ( blanket, sheet, cozy item to snuggle).  During the quiet rest time they may look at books, use puzzles, draw...once rest time is complete we have a snack and engage in free play and structured project time.  and of course on those days that are gorgeous we enjoy more outdoor play.  Please collect your child's rest items for regular cleaning.  They can be found in my classroom closet on the lower shelf behind the door ( top shelf is for morning KPAS)

If at anytime you have any questions about the program, your child's day or anything at all please do not hesitate to call, email or set up a time to meet with me.

Thank you for supporting our KPAS program.  We are excited to be growing and are striving to provide the best program possible!
