Wednesday am/pm KPAS

I am spending the day at home with 2 sick children...a lot of illness happening just before the holidays😩. Kaylie Viens is my substitute
for the day.  She was my first phone call and I was relieved she was available.  As many of you know I run the summer programs at The Warren School and Kaylie has run my summer preschool for the past 2 years!  She is wonderful and I know the kids are in great company.  As usual Jake and Louise will be with the afternoon group as well.  I hope you all have a great vacation!  Enjoy the picture of our newest creating.  Both groups contributed by painting, hole punching choosing colors, creating a sparkly hat and collecting sticks!

Tuesday morning KPAS

Everyone was excited to see new puzzles in our classroom today.  We spent a great amount of time passing around our new puzzles and exploring spatial relationships and also using some fine motor skills and finger strength as some had levers and locks!  Our snowman has a new sparkly hat and colorful scarf!  The afternoon group will give him a face and some buttons today.  Everyone is very excited for today's winter carnival.  Be sure to ask your child which activities they chose and if they rode on the Santa simulator.

Monday morning KPAS

We had a busy morning preparing to decorate our snowman.  We used several winter themed hole punchers today and really got our hand muscles working. Tomorrow we will begin creating our snowman's hat and scarf and they will be very fancy!  Our Legos and lacing cards were also very popular today.  The kids are all very excited about the short school week and upcoming holiday Celebrations.  We read The Biggest Snowman and Flip and Flop for stories today.  Both are inspired by winter but have an important message about friendship and teamwork.  We had several "kindness conversations" today as there were several mini arguments throughout the morning.

Friday afternoon KPAS

Today was a bit colder than we have been experiencing.  Please remember to send your child with warm gear everyday.  We spend as much time as we can outside and when not running around the kiddos become quite chilly if not geared up properly.  After rest time the downstairs group helped me make brownies for our boxes of cheer.  On Monday the upper unit will put together 12 boxes for families/community members that can use some extra smiles during the holiday season.  Remember Tuesday is the Winter carnival put on by the upper unit.  Kids are able to wear pajamas to school and will participate in cookie decorating, face painting, fun games and the popular Santa simulator.  Students are asked to bring $2 to wear pajamas and $2 to participate in activities...all money is donated to the food shelf.  Of course all children can participate without the money as well!

Friday morning KPAS

This morning we began creating a snowman for one of our classroom bulletin boards.  We had a fun time painting circles white and adding some sparkles.  We discussed what we would need to add to our snowman and West thinks he needs a scarf, Jack thinks he needs a hat and Earl wants him to have buttons...stay tuned to see the many details that we will add to our snowman this week....I think he will be quite decorated!  We read Octopuppy and The Snow Day.

Monday/Tuesday afternoon KPAS

We had fall like weather Monday afternoon and the kids had a blast playing in the leaves...how odd to be typing this in the middle of December!  Tuesday was dreary and we had a few sprinkles but it held off long enough for us to get outside for the morning.  The downstairs resting group has been very busy decorating trees for our "KPAS TREE FARM"  bulletin board and we will begin a new project soon.  We will be creating a snow person for another bulletin board and creating more trees.  The trees for this bulletin board will be created using sticks and ribbons and your child will bring them home to hang on your tree, in a window or anywhere you choose!  Songs for today (Tuesday) were open shut them and up like a rocket and we read Pete the Cat and The Bedtime Blues.
