Tuesday Morning KPAS

This morning began with Legos and puzzles and a game of hide and seek!  It was very fun to see the creative spots everyone chose for hiding.  The game ended when everyone wanted to be the seeker and there was no one left for hiding.  After free exploration we all sat down and enjoyed finger painting.  I set out our three primary colors red, yellow and blue and asked what colors were missing.  I was expecting green, orange and purple to be quick responses but they answered white, black, brown, tan and pink!  Always entertaining when the lesson goes elsewhere.  With prompting we got to orange, green and purple.  We then put a finger in each color and made small circles of solitary color on our papers.  We then wiped our fingers and added a new color on top and began color mixing.  What fun to watch the smiles brighten as they explored the creation of new colors.  Next I gave everyone a larger piece of paper and encouraged them to create any picture they desired and practice color mixing.  The end results were fabulous and the mess was also great fun!  We read Little Blue and Little Yellow to go along with our color explorations.
